FOUNDRY

Our foundry offers two techniques for smelting: Lost wax casting and sand casting. Both in aluminum and bronze.

Sand casting is done by creating a mold of hardened sand in which the molten metal is later poured .
Lost wax casting is intended for very detailed sculptures which require a maximum degree of precision. To that effect a replica of the model brought by the customer is made in wax, and will later be coated with a ceramic substance that hardens creating a mold. The piece is then heated until the wax melts inside, coming out trough a hole made in the mold to that effect. The molten metal is the injected to create a perfect replica in bronze or aluminum.

MONUMENTAL SCULPTURE

At La Plataforma Artística Jose Luis Ponce we offer a service for monumental sculpture for those customers interested in acquiring large format artwork for public or private open spaces. We have a great deal of experience in creating huge At La Plataforma Artistica we believe some of these steps like cleaning, consolidation and Protection are essential for the good maintenance of the artwork.

SHEET METAL

This department is in charge of creating sculptures with metal sheet cutouts working with all kinds of steel (COR-TEN, stainless, carbon, naval etc.) bronze and brass. These materials are processed using high pressure water jet and laser cutting tools, hydraulic benders etc…

RESTORATION

Our workshop offers the possibility to restore bronze, brass, aluminum ,steel and stone sculptures that have deteriorated with the pass of time or due to any other circumstances. Each material demands a specific technique which is optimal for it´s restoration process. Some of the services offered are:

Cleaning.
Consolidation of the stone (impregnation with strengthening products).
Reconstruction of missing or damaged parts (usage of restoration mortar specific to each case).
Gluing and reinforcement of broken parts.
Surface protection (Waterproof substances are applied to create a protective layer that coats the stone).
Replacing of damaged parts (sourcing the stone from the same quarry).
Maintenance services. (polishing, Patina etc.)

3D SCANNING

We offer this service in order to provide more tools to the artist in his quest for creation. The 3D scanning allows to modify the piece virtually before other steps are carried out. It also provides a better vision of how the artwork will look once finished.

UP/DOWN SIZING

We provide this service in order to modify the size of the sculptures to the artist´s request. After the 3D scan of the piece the five axis milling machine will carve a new model of the intended dimensions from which a mold will be made to continue with the process..

TRANSPORT AND INSTALATION

La Plataforma Artística Jose Luis Ponce provides transport services by any means to the desired location around the world. Our customers can also request our installation service in order to asses the location´s conditions and the best way to proceed with the placing of the sculpture.
